Water leak or water on the floor
Turn off the main water valve first. In Italian it's the rubinetto generale, and it's usually near the water meter: in a box or on the stairwell landing in newer buildings, under the kitchen sink or behind a small panel in the bathroom in older ones. If the water is close to sockets, switch off the electricity too. Then call us: we tell you what to do while the plumber is on the way.
Blocked drain or toilet
If only one sink is slow, the blockage is usually in the trap underneath and is a quick job. If several drains are backing up, the blockage is further down the pipe and the plumber needs a drain snake or a water jet. Skip the chemical drain cleaners from the supermarket: they often make the buildup worse and damage the seals.
No hot water
In most flats in Perugia hot water comes from a gas boiler, the caldaia, mounted on a wall in the kitchen, bathroom or on the balcony. If the water runs cold, look at the boiler display and note any error code: telling us the code on the phone helps the plumber arrive with the right parts.

Renting, studying or on holiday in Perugia
